PokéBattles: Sandy Version

It is the 90s 20s and there is time for Klax PokéBattles

When I started writing the mega tournament, I distinctly recall intending to see it through. Then MetalMike, who ran Blood Version, asked if I wanted to do a collaborative version with him and by that point, I was absolutely sick of the tournament so... I used that as an excuse to end the tournament early. Rules of the whole thing are a convoluted mess, but that was my want at the time (and that is my instinct to this day, I have to put a limit on the amount of world-building I do outside of the writing process)

Saying that it's a lot shorter of a tournament reading it - four battles of the 31 actually take place - than I remembered it being.

The length of these was set up to make this overly long given what it is, and without doing the Red version tournament thing of having side by side battles interact with each other it suffers from being filler without gaining any opportunities from the format.

Round 1 Battle 1

There are some decent gags in here, including one that made me double-take before realizing I meant 'erp' as in the sound of a gulp rather than the acronym (which I'm not even sure I was aware of when I wrote the battle).

Font colours for this one are atrocious by modern standards, but no one really knew what a 'contrast' was in 2001 era GeoCities.

Round 1 Battle 2

Better font colours and the interaction between the Narrator and Story Mode made a fun intro, and within a few lines we're already questioning reality and getting into the possibility there are authors beyond the already featured authors.

I think this one works better since it actually moves Vivi in an unexpected direction as a result of the battle. If that trait remains, I like it.

Round 1 Battle 3

Story Mode mocking the Narrator's inability to do that style of intro was amusing, and I enjoyed Palm Tree being annoyed at having the darker font colour. Some fun puns in here, but suffers from the issues most of the battles in this set are suffering from.

Round 1 Battle 4

A mercifully quick battle before the plot happened, cutting the tournament short. The portal stuff was probably a bit long, but at least there were attempts at jokes in there.
